We are delighted to continue our Creatives on Esherick series with a conversation with artist and woodworker Keunho Peter Park. We’ll explore where Park has pushed the boundaries of sculptural, organic furniture forms as well as his playful forays into instrument-making. We’ll also speak with him about his latest project in progress: an “endless handrail” which explores touch and tactility at this unusual moment, and draws some of its inspiration from Esherick’s handrail forms.

Keunho Peter Park is an international artist, woodworker, and instrument maker who teaches at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. He holds a BFA in painting from South Korea’s Kookmin University and an MFA in woodworking and furniture design from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Park won the 2015 Wharton Esherick Museum Excellence in Wood Award at the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show and served as a Windgate resident artist at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Check out Studio Spong to see more of Park’s designs!
