In celebration of the Summer Solstice, biophilic architect and educator Helena van Vliet will be in conversation with WEM’s Holly Gore on the science of well-being in the built environment—in particular, the restorative properties of wood. The program will take place in the 1956 Workshop on the WEM campus, where visitors will have ample opportunity to experience firsthand the magic of wood in Wharton Esherick’s craft and design. The evening will begin with an opportunity for a short walk through the Esherick Studio as an appetizer to the conversation in the Workshop. A wine and cheese reception will follow the talk.
