The Museum is closed to the public for the months of January and February.
We will reopen for tours on March 7, 2020.
We are pleased to offer the immersive experience of the general tour to larger or specialized groups. By rotating throughout the Studio and grounds, we can accommodate up to 30 guests on a group tour. Group tours can be accommodated on weekdays only by advance reservation.
Group Rate: $12/person for groups of 20 or more.
Please call (610) 644-5822 to schedule your group.
High School group rates (of 20 or more): $10 per student, up to 4 teachers/chaperones are free.
Middle & Elementary group rates (of 20 or more): $6 per student, up to 4 teachers/chaperones are free.
School visits include an hour-long guided tour that may be adapted to the curriculum and level of the group. Students rotate through the rooms of Wharton’s Studio weaving together themes of Wharton’s life, artistic process, visual thinking (line, form, color, balance), creativity and problem solving. Young children (pre-K through grade 2) explore the museum through a 45 minute tour highlighting observational skills, touch, texture and storytelling. We strive to be an educational resource for our community. Please contact us to discuss designing a curriculum-specific tour tailored to fit your needs. Multi-disciplinary connections to visual studies, history, language arts and more are possible.
We can accommodate groups of up to 30 students on weekdays with an advance reservation. Parking is available for two buses.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the Wharton Esherick Museum can provide field trips and visits for a free or reduced cost on an as-needed basis. Please call us to discuss.

On the Second Sunday of every month, we are excited to offer a self-directed tour of the Museum. This allows you to wander and linger at will throughout Wharton’s Studio. Docents are stationed in every room to welcome you, answer questions and demonstrate the furniture. This is a particularly great tour for returning guests and for those who prefer more flexible viewing experiences.
This experience allows you to spend as much time as you like and does not require reservations. Please be aware that you may not be able to enter the Studio immediately if the building is at capacity. We are busiest right at 1:00 pm during Second Sunday – we encourage those who can to arrive a little later to ensure a great viewing experience!
In June, July, and August, our Second Sunday event also includes access to the Diamond Rock Schoolhouse, the historic octagonal schoolhouse that served as an early painting studio for Esherick.
We cannot accommodate group tours during Second Sundays.
There is no Second Sunday event in September due to our Annual Members’ Party, or in January and February while we are closed.
Time: 1:00 – 4:00P // Admission: $12 adults / $6 children (ages 5-12)
