Architecture Evening: William Whitaker on Architectural Regionalism in Greater Philadelphia

Join us for a talk with William Whitaker that explores architectural regionalism as an animating force in Philadelphia modernism. Whitakerโs research encompasses famed designers who worked with local materials and indigenous architectural formsโLouis Kahn, Frank Miles Day, and Wharton Esherick among others. His work also accounts for geological and social factors determining the availability of materials and immigration of skilled workers that shaped built expression.
Visitors will have an opportunity to enter the Main Gallery of the Studio before the talk, from 5:30-6:00pm. Light refreshments will be served. Note: this program does not include a full tour of the Studio.
