A Musical Solstice Celebration

Sunday June 21, 2026
10:00 AM - 2:30 PM
Wharton Esherick Museum - Vintage wooden radio with three dials, central display, perfect for a Solstice Celebration in sepia tones.

Join us to celebrate the Summer Solstice with a music-filled day in Wharton Esherick’s Home and Studio! Enjoy music drifting from Wharton Esherick’s original radio–a 1960s Blaupunkt sitting on a custom made swing arm recently reinstalled over the dining room table in 2025– alongside rarely seen selections from WEM’s collection highlighting Esherick’s music-related creations. Music stands, musical drawings, as well as photographs of cabinets for radios, record players, and phonographs will be on view!  Guests are welcome to wander the Main Gallery, Kitchen, and Dining Room of the 1926 Studio and talk with staff and docents as they experience this space brought to life by Esherick’s radio and the collection highlights delighting in Esherick’s love of music.

Wharton Esherick’s Home and Studio will be open with hour-long Open House slots beginning at 10:00 AM, 11:15 AM, and 1:30 PM.

Please note: This program takes place in the Studio’s Main Gallery (the first floor) and the Kitchen/Dining Room only. It does not include a full guided tour, but a chance to explore and connect with staff at your own pace!
